Soup For Thought

A mouse looked through a crack in the wall to see the farmer and his wife opening a package; what food might it contain?

He was aghast to discover that it was a mouse trap!

Retreating to the farmyard, the mouse proclaimed the warning, "There is a mouse trap in the house, there is a mouse trap in the house."

The chicken clucked and scratched, raised her head and said, "Mr. Mouse, I can tell you this is a grave concern to you, but it is of no consequence to me; I cannot be bothered by it."

The mouse turned to the pig and told him, "There is a mouse trap in the house."

"I am so very sorry Mr. Mouse," sympathized the pig, "but there is nothing I can do about it but pray; be assured that you are in my prayers."

The mouse turned to the cow, who replied, "Like wow, Mr. Mouse, a mouse trap; am I in grave danger, Duh?"

So the mouse returned to the house, head down and dejected to face the farmer's mouse trap alone.

That very night a sound was heard throughout the house, like the sound of a mouse trap catching its prey. The farmer's wife rushed to see what was caught.

In the darkness, she did not see that it was a venomous snake whose tail the trap had caught.

The snake bit the farmer's wife.

The farmer rushed her to the hospital.

She returned home with a fever. Now everyone knows you treat a fever with fresh chicken soup, so the farmer took his hatchet to the farmyard for the soup's main ingredient.

His wife's sickness continued so that friends and neighbors came to sit with her around the clock. To feed them, the farmer butchered the pig.

The farmer's wife did not get well, in fact, she died, and so many people came for her funeral the farmer had the cow slaughtered to provide meat for all of them to eat.

So the next time you hear that someone is facing a problem and think that it does not concern you, remember that when the least of us is threatened, we are all at risk.

"We are all involved in this journey called life.
We must keep an eye out for one another and
make an extra effort to encourage one another."

"Do not forget to do good
and to help one another,
because these are the sacrifices
that please God."
Hebrews 13:16 GNT

The Singapore's Mum

We had a long conversation this evening after the meeting which lasted for about a hour. You actually know I don't really possess positive outlook from the inner side. By comforting and giving advise, I actually felt better. But I still cannot overcome the fear, at certain point of time I was thinking if I should really go for a counselling session. In fact you are actually counselling me all these while. There are many things which I don't reveal to my parents but to you, firstly I think it's unnecessary to turn my parents worry and secondly you're nearer for me to reach you. I am actually in a mess now and difficult to construct my sentence properly to express what I'm thinking for the moment, but ya I just want to thank you for doing so much for me. You're more than just a lecturer in my eyes, when you talk about him just now I could even see sign of tears under your eyelid when they started to turn red. You've spent so much effort and time on us, hoping us to be good. You said

"I want you all to go back
as how you come to Singapore,
because when my children go overseas,
I wish somebody would take care of them too."

Don't worry mum, karma will return good on you. When you asked when will I be going back Kuching again, and saying that you will think of a way on how to tackle the situation which maximize my higher chance and discuss what to tell my parents when I get back home, I nearly cried. I held back but shed a tear or two when leaving your office. I hope you're reading this - Please don't go and fight anything for me anymore, don't put yourself in hard times just because of me, you've done more than enough and I can't appreciate more. I was enlightened when you informed me I am actually one of the considerations in the list of COM, it brightened me up. I have also learnt that the award doesn't sort accordingly just on the academic achievement, it also takes into consideration of one's attitude and contribution towards the course (for my case - DPE) and NYP. You told me before your birthday is in July, I went to your Facebook but couldn't find the exact date. I will ask around and try to find out the actual date and initiate a little surprise for you.

If you have 5 minutes to spend on facebook, why not just sit back and listen to this song, you won't regret how strong the emotional influence and touching it is.

In Between Lines - Dream & Reality

I was back in Kuching for the past few days for vacation. Practically was to bring my friends around. I didn't really take my DSLR out during the trip so don't blame me for not having shots on what we were doing, where we have been and what we ate.

Anyway, I actually instagram-ed some of the things we did.

First night, went to Life Cafe for Ma-La-Mian then I could not recall what we actually did that night except for slacking at home and eating McDonald's.

Second day we went to Spring. At night, we shisha. We chose the Fresh Mint Lime flavour. Here is one of the very 'smoky' moment when Joel was shishaing.

Third day, we went to Boulevard. I also got the chance to try out the new 'Ding Tea'. I ordered the signature Hokkaido Milk Tea, so much better than Each-A-Cup and of course better than Chatime. But still a gap apart if you wanna match it with KOI or Gong-Cha. I ordered 50% sugar but it was still very sweet to me.
I do feel sick if I've got drink a 12 ounce of sweet drink in one go.

At night we went to Grand Magherita for Seafood buffet. Grand Magherita, your service was quite sux that night which really made me felt 'xia-soi' to treat my overseas friends such xxxx meal when compared to equivalent standard of hotel in Singapore.

Jack Daniel's was happening in my room after the dinner.

Everybody was partially drunk or perhaps dead that night. I was quite disappointed on Jeremy, thought he would have a higher alcohol tolerance. I barely slept for half an hour that night, just to make sure I was there to wake everybody up in time to catch the early morning flight. I got stripped off by the other three drunkards and they declared that I have a small dick. In so I believe that drunkenness do arouse optical illusion, especially when you see the big thing small. Anyway, I was glad that I FaceTime Andrew and he managed to capture many xxx shots of what's happening in my room. In the event if you're wondering what Jeremy has showed to the camera, buzz me. Picture upon request. *Jeremy, you're blackmailed - wink*. I think Joel was the closest to the state of sane that night.

Touched down on Changi airport around 11am, went home washed up and took a nap. After which I went to school for Elites Camp. Despite feeling tired and the a little tipsy from the hangover previous night, I managed to stay until Sunday around 2.30pm. Went home after that to continue my sleep. I do feel that the camp was super slacked when compared to the one I had last year.

*Le bro and me. I have no idea why he popped out his teeth to make himself looks like a retard*

Went to airport to send Andrew off around 9pm on Sunday's night. It's finally happening. I hope you do enjoy the time in Germany. I would like to express how happy I am when you've got to leave for Germany. Thanks for not failing the interview. I am glad you didn't put yourself down nor me. Enjoy your holidays in Germany, my mum told me it would be more like a vacation rather than an internship. I will miss you and I promise to look after Angel under any circumstances.
*you can ask for the encrypted key, if I think you're good, you'll have it*

"For the past few weeks I realize that I have been living in between the lines of DREAM & REALITY." Dream is when I wanna drive a Germany living in America. Reality is when I drive a France in Malaysia and hop on to a Sweden in Singapore. I am not even close to drive a cheap China or common Japan here. Let's see if I could change that soon.

"Sometimes I dream big,
but to realize it,
it is either too difficult or
I am simply too lazy to move my butts."

It is still post common test now, but I don't like the fact that I am having lecture tomorrow. Since it is 1pm, so I don't give too much shit about it.

Catching Up

Sorry guys for making you to wait,
It has been almost two weeks after my birthday
But I was really busy to blog okay.
Forgive me, but I really appreciate my good old friends who remembered my birthday,
Despite our disperse location around the globe,
But I guess real friendship grows through distance.
Here are some of the awesome cards and greetings I have received.

 Greeting card from Perth, Australia
Thanks Leon Hahahahahaha,
Ok I mean Leon Ha, for posting over this awesome card
And your very neatly computer-like writing never changed
I miss high school, really.

Another one flew from Auckland, New Zealand
Thanks for remembering my big day, Miss Esther
I miss my high school with you too
But I don't really much distant in between you and me now
Skype is the cheapest mode we can get in touch now
=D

Le favorite time - The drinking session
I have to thank all my buddies who sponsored me two towers of Hoeegarden
A premium Belgium wheat beer which is really really smooth
I was even happier when YYC went high
*He insisted he didn't drunk the next day
but....
The picture speaks a thousand words"

Happy 20th to me
I wasn't trying to promote BERSIH but my bro Andrew loves mango
So it was just coincidence

I really hate to admit this but time flies. I have entered my third year in NYP and graduating soon. I have to say that this year is a tough year for me as I have been through a very challenging setback which has thrown me into a valley of deep despair, and I truly believe if my godmother wasn't there to guide me along I think I could have given up everything and lost my only faith in life. Indeed, when I regained myself from melancholy, I have achieved better in work and reached a further milestone that I never did before. Instead of crying over the spilled milk, I diverted my focus to my daily work which has turned out to be good. I am also glad that Fabian and few other besties approached me to console me and give me strength, I really appreciate that. Recently David came to me trying to apologize saying there might be a mistake, but somehow later he trying to persuade me not to worry, not to get disappointed. And what I find important after so many conversation is this line, sometimes I find it very meaningful and philosophic which worth a repeatable and detailed cerebration, but sometimes I think it is just a bullshit construction which he came across his mind at that instant -

"It's just like study, it doesn't mean that when
you are well prepared, you'll score good grades."

So have you decipher the underlying meaning behind the sentence? Was it saying that we don't need to work hard for what we are doing as we might not get the equally weight in return. But to simply relate it to my case, I read it as -

"It doesn't mean that if you're well prepared
for the interview, you'll succeed."

No matter what it is, just keep my fingers-crossed and pray. I can rely on nobody but myself and God. Occasionally my mum will still discuss about it but I will quickly switch to another topic, I don't want to get her in trouble again because of me. Now I hold the belief to not think about it frequently as it won't help, why worry over something you have no control with? Although sometimes I still hear people discussing it around my circle, I admit that I do feel uneasy but I know I have to live with it.

"Expect the least for surprise,
instead of expecting the most
and get disappointed in return."

Speaking of my mum, I think she has spoken to him. Although there is saying that "don't judge a book by its cover" but she can really tell a person on first sight. There was one day when we were discussing about the graduation night (the very early stage when we were in the midst of liaising with various hotels), she was trying to hint me something she felt not right about him. After a few rounds of verbally cat-catch-mouse game, I poured to her what I know. She was quite shocked that her guess was correct as what I've seen on her expression but she said she'll do something about it and talk to him later.

If you want me to describe what kind of lecturer my godmother is, or perhaps how a good lecturer should behave, here it is -

"A good lecturer won't just
impart the students with knowledge,
she wants to build good character too."

In the event you haven't watch the video I prepared for DPE Awards Ceremony. Here I uploaded the video to YouTube and I hope you enjoy it. Except for the fast changing photos and transitions (because my boss wanted the duration of photos to be as short as 2-3 seconds), do comment on the overall visual experience.

*P/S : Time flies and I start wondering my whereabouts after next year. I came across with some research and I find this really interesting.

The Heart

I stand by the windows trying to sniff in the humid breeze after the wash. I love this moment as your skin feels more supple and tender, most importantly you do not sweat. This is the kind of weather I yearn in our tropical climate. It could be frequent or rare throughout the years. The clock tells it should be dark now, but there is red gradient propagating upwards towards the black sky. I do not see the moon nor the stars, just some merely noticeable blinking eyes, perhaps meteor. And this is how the contradicting scene you would see, or to imagine. You feel the chill but when your eyes are opened, the red patch on the sky arouse an opposite feel.

It is excited when you anticipate for life, for what is going to happen.
You've worked hard, strived even harder when you slowly move towards your dream
Because our full attention is rendered to what we want to achieve
Most of the times we neglect people who actually care about us
Who loves us for more than we do
I received my foster dad sms when I was having dinner just now
Just right after my dad called me to ask about the iPad stuff
I didn't really scrutinize it as the message was really long
I just glanced through the first and last line
I went home and read through the whole text again
It was about asking me to take care of myself,
reminding me to take proper meals at proper time
To drink more water and to keep fit
Just about an hour ago
My brother came to me to ask for my help
Helping him to purchase an iPad case
Which then I replied promptly
Because accessing my credit card will activate
A security code send to my Malaysia mobile
Which I have totally forgotten about it since I came back
from Johore two weeks ago
When I tried to retrieve the code,
I saw godfather's sms again
It was sent yesterday on 11am
Content is more or less the same as what he sent me just now
But there is an extra line in between
"...
Don't forget to read this.
I'm sorry, please forgive me.
Thank you and I love you.
..."

I mean...
He even apologised to me when sending his regards
He was afraid that his text might interrupt what I was doing at that moment
He was so considerate and I am totally touched
At that instant, I tear

Where on earth can you find people who actually
Give thought to you
And worried if the care was passed on at the right time
Who will even go so detail and think about that
Nobody else would
But your family
Or even your best best friend

p/s: I hope some of you remember. I miss feeling homed.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day
To all the mothers across the world
Of course, I would like to express my deepest gratification and appreciation for my mum
Without her, I won't be here
Thanks for what you have sacrificed and given me
One day when I am capable, I will make sure you live a good life as well
Loving you, always do

Finished my conversation with mum around 12am since 11pm
We talked about the dinner we each had before this
Well, I am actually kind of envy when I couldn't join the family for dinner
If it wasn't because of the Com Skill's pilling up assignments and German OE
I would have sneak back home, seriously
Our lovely conversation ended with a sweet
"Goodnight mum, Happy Mother's Day, I love you"
Mum has been constantly calling me like thrice a day
I think she really misses me

Sometimes mum doesn't want us to prepare fancy present for her
She just wants to see us staying happily and healthy
That will be her biggest consolation
And I believe that is every mum's biggest wish

I think daddy stole mum's limelight? Or perhaps Megatron stole ours? Lol

I would also like to thank Miss Cheam
For being my mum in Singapore
Without her, I would have lost my faith in holding my principle
Because of her, I clinch to my belief again
Thanks for all the guidance you have given during my stay in NYP, in Singapore

My camera is lousy that you cannot see my eye bags
Good thing is when you can't see my eye bags, I look good
=)

The Flowery Lies

Recently I am given an assignment to write a cover letter. The tutor said we must use flowery terms to "beautify" our writing and try to sell ourselves as much as possible, don't be humble. So here it is.

Dear Sir/Mdm

POST OF PRODUCTION EXECUTIVE

I am interested in applying for the position of Production Executive that was listed through The Straits Time dated 18 April 2012.

I am a graduate from Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) with a Diploma in Digital and Precision (Manufacturing) Engineering. The comprehensive syllabus and unique teaching technique of NYP has equipped me with firm base of knowledge and skills relevant to the requirements of becoming an excellent engineer. Besides my specialization in technical skills, you will also benefit from my key strength which is computer expertise in using software like Microsoft Office, Adobe and so on. This is because I have taken up external ICT course offered by the University of Cambridge and I passed the examination with Merit.

During my third year, I was attached to First Engineering Pte Ltd for NYP’s three-month Industrial Attachment Program. There I assisted the senior engineer of the R&D department to design and develop a new aircraft turbine part with CAD drawing and CAM simulation. As a result, I have polished my interpersonal and communication skills as I played an active role in the group and frequently interacted with engineers and staffs from various departments. Other than that, my ability to work in a fast paced-environment has been proven when I have to deal with several projects under tight datelines.

My ability to work well as part of team also related to my active participation in CCAs during my time in NYP. I was the President of DPE (Digital and Precision Engineeering) Impact academic club. When organizing event, my initiative to make the event success has nurtured me to become more responsible and confident. These attributes, combined with my enthusiasm to learn, further sharpen my outstanding leadership skill. I believe I can apply the same enthusiasm to SPH being a Southeast Asia’s leading media organization. I am particularly impressed with the philosophy of your organization with regard to diversification and, therefore, would like to begin my career with SPH. I am also able to travel when required. My expected monthly salary is negotiable.

I have attached my resume with this letter for your perusal. I hope that you can grant me an interview so that I can furnish you with information about myself. I can be contacted at 9231 6229 or email me at jack_ty@hotmail.com. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours sincerely

Tan Yee

It's Mayday

Ya, it's Mayday not May day. I am sorry for not updating my blog for the 428 event which I personally think it was a huge step forward for a real democracy nation. It will no longer be an empty slogan in the future, I believe, once the transformation is done. Though I wasn't present at any of the Bersih rally (because the one supposed to be held in Singapore was cancelled), but my spirit is always with the nation.

I am quite happy today to hear rumour which has finally came to confirmation. Mum was telling me about it last week but seems everything wasn't confirm that time I didn't mention a single word. I believe noises are being heard. I know I have done the right thing for my people, though at the cost risking my chance which is already a gleam. I don't mind losing the opportunity, but if I've got to see people who deserved and qualified being put down, I will feel guilty if I knew it but not doing anything. That strongly oppose my conscience. As long as I am still able to speak, I would make sure things are on the right path.

This is a system which I have given up and lost my faith with deep despair, my only will now is to make sure it doesn't create a second innocent victim.

I feel the pain, but it will benumb as time passes.

Sometimes, asking for a simple, fair and direct social cycle is a luxurious dream you could ever had.

Starry Starry Night

Just woke up from a short nap from this evening, it wasn't because I had enough sleep, I had a nightmare which woke me up. Recently I am prompted by lots of self discovering which lead me to another stage of thinking and hopefully a better mindset giving me a more versatile view as a whole. Firstly, I was trying hard to escape from this place where I crowned it a place full of cannibals interested to hunt down my flesh, in this context, a tremendous mind fucking session. For God sake, I took it as a challenge to groom me better, it did render me to have a different prospect towards life. When I escaped back to Kuching for vacation for about a month, I learnt much too. Be it the business tactic from daddy, and tutoring experience to fill up my leisure time, they all did quite a big job to let me temporarily forget about the pain I have been suffering. Just a week ago, I flew back here thinking everything has finally came to a full stop. It doesn't seems so, the authority who holds power is playing around with the game of nationality which put me in real despair. C'mon, I can understand how Malaysia being racist and bias in policy which most of the time (or every time) benefits only the indigenous group. I thought Singapore being a first world country would have a more open-thinking and a policy which benefits all as long you are willing to work, a fair term for everyone who deserves it.

So what now, you thinking if you are fit for the programme? You know yourself if you are the one deserves to go. I am just being so reckless at times wanna to flip table and write in to MOE. Somehow God hear my prayers, karma doesn't let me wait too long, MOE is now investigating the cases few years back, one day when the truth reveals and turns out to the sun, it will be the time for you to evaluate yourself. To go or not to, I have not carry much anticipation anymore, this is not my final destiny after all. I just wanna graduate with flying colours, enter a renown U, complete my degree asap, master and PhD. Right after I will gain some experience overseas before I go back home to daddy's business, but hopefully I still can setup Creaf or partner with Jimmy for some really good enterprise idea.

I don't know if the candle has burnt till the end, everyone in class seems to be less ambitious and motivated now. I might not be really good in visualizing, but staying at mould side might give me a better influence, I guess.

I miss the month before, where I can fetch you around, for food, for drinks, and for talk. Because at here, all kind of talks seems cheap, the heartfelt friends can only be met after making appointment. They are all no longer free-and-easy like last time.

Well, this is life, in a big metropolis - only the fittest survive, the rest would just be slaughtered.

I find this acoustic version really awesome.

Losing once does not imply you lose forever, just a reminder to prepare and equip yourself better to welcome the next victory. We have the best weapon - time, because we are young.
