Shanghai World Expo 2010

I just finished watching the live of Shanghai World Expo 2010
Being so much excited, I would like to make this post quick
Before the excitement really goes off!
China has been growing stronger and is capable in hosting world's major activities
Which used to be held by western countries
From Beijing 2008 to Shanghai Expo 2010
China has once proved to the world that they can marvel the world
Like how other country did
Shanghai World Expo 2010 is not an exceptional
From the opening ceremony which further divided into indoor and outdoor
The outdoor impressive fire-works and visualisation effect on the gigantic LCD screen
Had conquered how many of the world's heart
To earn a place in the hall of fame
China is coming up
Even Singapore, a country where English is widely spoken and prior in education
Is now emphasis more on Chinese education
Let see what's Malaysia government doing?
Yea, they intend to make Malays the teaching medium for Science subjects in the near future
It's "GREAT" and "BRILLIANT"
Isn't it?
Although I am not born as China nationality
But my origin was from China
The Chinese blood was inborn with me
Yet China had achieved miracles where the world eyes-on
Being a Chinese
I am always proud

Because They Meant

Mum rings up
"Tan Yee, Sze Hui Jeje (cousin) is coming back this Saturday and will be back in Singapore on Sunday. Do you have anything you wanna ask her to bring for you?"
"Sure, get me the shirt with V-shape collar with the word "Ohana" printed on it.
Erm...I think there is my name printed on the sleeve as well, but I am not sure whether it is on the right or left sleeve, just check for me."
"Ok, why do you want to bring that shirt? You don't want to get any other better shirt other than a school activity shirt?"
"Ya, I just want that shirt if the hand carry doesn't allow Sze Hui Jeje to carry so much items at once."
"Alright then. Take care my boy"
"Sure, mum. Bye"
"Bye bye"
-
Currently I am away from my hometown
A place where I grown up
Where my fond memories are
Sometimes meaningful things can keep you sane
Makes you feel warmth especially those which really means
From left is the Kuching High Red Crescent Camp 2008 camp tee
It was my first experience to organise a state level camp
A camp where I learned to be attentive and organised
I missed the time when I worked up with my team
Especially those who are really potential and capable
Like Fabian, Shirley, Daniel, Pauline, Kelly and Yun Hui
Those people were really impressive during the camp
Whenever I recall the scene of the camp
I am always proud of myself and my friends
Which I think we really made impossible possible
It was a successful camp for me
Second piece from left is The Ohana Camp 2008 camp tee
The first thing that appears in my mind
Is the name Esther Tan
She was the first friend who left the earliest
By the end of year 2008
The aim at which I insisted for this camp
Was to gather all closet friends
To organise a farewell for her
All committees were very cooperative
At which making this camp running at its ease
Credit to the same people as stated above
Although years had passed
The time when we gathered at Damai chalet on the night 17th November 2008
Under the activity "We Will Never Forget You"
Is a memory that can hardly be erased
I handled this main program personally
I sincerely hope that scene is still vivid in everyone of us who had attended it
Especially for Esther =)
First from right is the Shirt Of Six
This is the first own made shirt I have in form 2
That was a good time when I met up some greatest friends I ever had in my life
Hong Khai, me, Fiona, Kiki, Hui Yin, Chia Yin
I still can remember the strongest friendship chain was during our time in class 2A1
When we all had the project done together in a group
And we always visited one and another house to chat and to complete work
It was a good time being together with all of them
Second from right is 5S1 class tee
I think this is the most perfect artwork I had done on a t shirt
I certainly love this shirt so much as well as the quote
I was inspired by the colours of rainbow after a heavy downpour in an evening
The wonderful seven colours made the connections in my brain to meet at the right time
And here it was born
"Unparalleled Intermixture brings Infinite Possibilities"
This was the best quote I could ever thought of
-
Because they all meant
That is the reason why I am willing to sacrifice part of my lovely fashion collection
But to get these four pieces of shirts in Singapore
They might look ordinary or meaningless or even ugly to others
But certainly it was a priceless treasure for me
By the time when the design was inspired
By the time when the shirt was printed
By the time when I put it on my body
They had melted as part of the soul
A memory that last by the devastation of time
The shirts are loves from everyone

Shit The Day

Today should be a plenteous day as I got few things to do
First, I need to travel down to Bedok to get my shoes and trousers from Uncle Philip
Second, travel down to City Hall then to Funan DigitalLife Mall for my newly bought Epson printer gift redemption
Shitty life kicked start right after 12pm
-
Shit
The bus took me 1 hour to Bedok
Shit
I could not find where Uncle Philip's place is
Shit
I walked around for 1 hour before I actually got my stuff from Uncle Philip
Shit
It rained
Shit
The MRT to City Hall is crowded as if I am in a sardine can
Shit
The receipt was missing in action
Shit
Then I could not redeem for my free gift
Shit
The officer asked me to get back to Courts to ask for a reissue of the purchase receipt
Shit
I had to take another MRT again
Shit
Ang Mo Kio Court's Manager said that the machine will not regenerate second piece of receipt
Shit
I got nothing better to do than going back home
Shit
I could not remember when I dropped out my receipt
Shit
I wrote an email to Courts to ask for a proof of my purchase
Shit
The web stated that it will only be replied within 5 working days
Shit
I phoned Epson customer hotline and it asked me to leave a voice message
Shit
The redemption of free gift will probably delay to next week
($40 NTUC voucher and Philips headphone means I can save a lot of bucks)
Shit
I wasted whole afternoon of precious time doing nothing
Other than rushing here and there
Shit
The day is so shitty

Contrast

I took these pictures days ago and I really don't understand why Malaysians always park their car in this way. Singapore's cars are so neatly arranged in reverse parking but a Malaysia car spoilt the neat scene of all. A simple parking culture can shows a great distinct in the level of civilisation among two nations. So, think before you act. Even for a simple parking.

The World's Best

I went to SEDB(Singapore Economic Development Board) office in Raffles City Tower to complete the deed signing of my scholarship. While I am wandering around, I discover some interesting information about Singapore in the leaflet. Indeed I feel proud that I am staying in one of the world's best city. So I quickly grabbed the leaflet and make a scan once I reach home and here it is.

I start to get interested about the ranking of Malaysia in the world's best city ranking but sadly I get this.

See? Malaysia is not in the world's top ranking. Not even Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia! What the hell, Malaysia is really a pathetic country. So I just simply highlight the cities where most of my closet friends stay in.

1. Esther Tan - Auckland, New Zealand (rank no.4)

2. Jimmy Liu - Melbourne, Australia (rank no. 18)

3. Leon Ha, Jerry Ting, Kelvin Oui - Perth, Australia (rank no. 21)

4. Me - Singapore, Singapore (rank no.26)

5. Fiona Low - Adelaide, Australia (rank no. 30)

6. David Wong (going to be) - London, United Kingdom (rank no.38)

Oh my, we all are heading overseas for a better city to stay in. Esther u stay in the best city among us! Woa~So consider yourself a lucky one as not many of us can live in such a top ranking city. So try to ask yourself, why majority of us are heading overseas for higher education? Why don't we just practise culture of Australians, Canadians and Americans to stay in their hometown to complete their undergraduate studies? The answer is very straight forward : Because our government is BIAS (in what way of BIAS I think probably all of you understand). And here is another statistic which really excites me.

Singapore is the world's best city in infrastructure. How proud am I staying in such a perfect country. Others (Esther, Leon, Kelvin, Fiona) are also staying in one of the world's best city. For those who wish to rise high to fulfill dream, Singapore probably will be a choice of yours. Singapore is just next to our hometown and it is one of the world's strongest economic body as well as a fabulous city equipped with anything you need. According to the agreement I signed for SEDB scholarship, upon completion of my three years diploma in Nanyang Polytechnic I will be offered to become Singapore PR and it is a must for me to accept unless stated otherwise. Which means very soon I will belong to Singapore and turn into a Singaporean. It is no harm for me to do so as I really in love with this wonderful city.
